LHS CLASS OF 1971 TO HOLD 55TH REUNION IN 2026

LIBERTYVILLE, IL  - The Libertyville High School Class of 1971 Reunion Committee is proud to announce plans have begun to hold a 55th class reunion in 2026.

Given the rousing success of our ‘Cheers 51’ class reunion in October, 2022, the decision to push forward with our every five years reunion plan was an easy one.

Both Don Eggert, Jr. and Patti Nordhem Wilson have again agreed to be co-chairpersons for the event.

Meanwhile, many of the Reunion Committee members have already indicated they will again support the efforts for the 55th celebration of our 1971 graduation from LHS.

Additionally, the Reunion Committee would like to formally invite anyone who wants to be a member of the committee and assist with the planning and execution of the 55th-Class Reunion – and other potential events in the next few years – as we try to continue to grow the amazing friendship we have all shared for more than a half century.

The exact date for the LHS Class of 1971 55th-Reunion will be established in late 2025 / early 2026, and most likely again will be staged during the early- to mid-fall 2026 in Libertyville

In addition to establishing the date for the event, the Reunion Committee will be discussing various ‘enhancements’ to make our ‘Double Nickel Throwdown’ as memorable – or better – than the great 50th Reunion Celebration just completed last October.

LHS 71 STANDOUT DAN HOLM INDUCTED INTO

THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

LIBERTYVILLE, IL (SEPTEMBER 1, 2022) - The Iowa Letterwinners Club and the University of Iowa Athletics Department has selected LHS Class of 1971 grad Dan Holm for induction to the school’s athletic Hall of Fame.

The 33rd Hall of Fame Class will also include Dallas Clark (football), Amy Fowler (field hockey), Kari Knopf (softball), Keith Noreen (baseball), George Roddy (men’s golf) and Nancilea Underwood (women’s swimming & diving).

We at LHS all knew just how good Dan was long before he won the 158-pound NCAA championship and led Iowa to its first ever NCAA team wrestling title in 1975.

Dan was a member football, baseball and wrestling teams throughout his time at LHS. He was an All-Conference selection in football his senior year, but it was in wrestling where he really shined turning in a perfect 37-0 record in winning the Illinois High School Athletic Association 145-pound state championship.

For his efforts, Dan was named the Newsom Award winner in 1971, an honor presented each year to the top LHS senior class athlete.

Dan chose to attend the University of Iowa after graduating from LHS and led the school to back-to-back Big Ten championships in 1974 and 1975. He also earned All-American honors three times at Iowa.

To say that all of us are proud of Dan and are elated over his selection to the University of Iowa Athletic Hall of Fame is an understatement.
